How to regsiter and post at Bariatric-forums.com

Hi, and welcome to bariatric-forums.com.  The term "forum" is used interchangable with "discussion group", "message board" and of course "forums".  You may see any of these 4 terms used,  but they mean the same thing.

Before you can reply or create posts/threads you must have a valid forum account.  This account is free, and the information you provide is strictly to share your personal information with others.  By default, your e-mail address is hidden, but you can choose to receive or deny e-mail messages from other registrered users on these forums.  If you choose to "not" receive e-mails from other memebers or moderators/administrators, you should still use a valid e-mail address.  Valid e-mail address are required to reset your password through the automated forum software.

If you have any questions regarding the features of this message board, you may simple post a question in the "general chat" section of the message boards.  The advantage to posting a public question is that many poeple can read and answer your question.  If you directly e-mail the webmaster of the forums you may get slower response times.  The purpose of this guide is to show you the steps required to create an account so that you may post a reply.  Although there is a FAQ built in to the forum software, I think these images are friendlier helpers.  If after reading the rest of this page, you still can not create an account, then please e-mail the webmaster for help.

When you first load the main page, you'll see the image below.  In order to register, click either link circled in red.

 

 

 

 

 

Next you'll be shown the forums rules, you'll need to read these rules, agree to them by clicking the small box and then clicking the register box.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next you'll have to fill some information.  I chose "ben_delete" as my user name.  Choose any acceptable name you'd like.  you need to enter the same password twice, and your e-mail address twice.  Notice the graphic with numbers and text.  Type the number you see in the image verification section.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Farther down the page, you'll have some options to chose from:  Time zone, day light savings adjustment, e-mail options.   If you allow other memebers to "email" you, they must use this message board to send the e-mail, and they will not see what address it goes to.  The only way for others to learn your e-mail address would be from directly replying to their e-mail.  You will be provided a link to respond back through the forums if you wish to hide your direct e-mail address.  The referrer is who told you about this message board.  It must be an exact match of a registered user.  You can leave this link blank.  Click "complete registration" to continue.

 

 

 

 

 

Upon successfull registration, you will see the following message (with your user name of course):

 

 

 

 

 

Clicking the forums link will send you back to the home page, and you can now log in with your newly created username and password.  Checking the "remember me" box will allow you to return in the future w/o having to retype your user name and password.  If you are using a public computer, do not leave yourself logged in.
